Scott Settles, CLF® Founder

I was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana — a place where people work hard, golf harder, and humidity is a personality trait. My first career was as a PGA Golf Professional, which sounds glamorous until you realize golf doesn’t take holidays, rain checks, or naps. After years of sunrise-to-sunset shifts, I realized I wanted a new game plan — one that didn’t involve praying for rain and a day off.

In 2008, I met my wife, Carly. She claims she married me for my charm, but I suspect it was the free Nike and Titleist gear. Either way, she won — and so did I.

That same year, I pivoted into finance and eventually became Chief Recruiting Officer for a Fortune 100 company. That’s where I discovered something shocking: the entire recruiting industry was running on Windows 95 — metaphorically, and sometimes literally.

Everyone was still relying on referrals, Rolodexes, and luck, while ignoring the internet’s full power. So, I decided to shake things up. I disrupted a 160-year-old financial giant, built a new digital recruiting model, and turned what started as a side hustle into a full-blown recruiting machine.

Now, The GA works with financial firms across the country, blending strategy, storytelling, and multimedia to make recruiting smarter — and a whole lot less boring.

We don’t chase resumes; we build pipelines. We don’t post and pray; we strategize and execute. We’re basically the recruiting world’s version of switching from a flip phone to an iPhone.

When I’m not building recruiting empires, you can find me on the course teaching my two sons — the 2035 and 2037 PGA Tour Rookies of the Year (manifesting early) — how to swing big and dream bigger.

Send me a message and let’s connect. Just don’t expect to reach me on summer Fridays. That’s reserved for “client meetings” on the back nine.
